UPDATE: Yet again, the most interesting bit of this debate happened at the very beginning, when Romney sniped at Gingrich about his ethics violations and Gingrich refused to take the bait. The rest of the debate was more of the same for the seventeenth time. Nothing really changed between the last debate and this one, which means Mitt Romney lost.
ORIGINAL POST: The debate tonight is in Tampa, which will host the Republican Convention this summer. It’s hosted by NBC and the National Journal, and you can find a livestream here and here. I’m already trapped inside the live-blogging box below. Won’t you join me?

Can’t believe you guys haven’t seen this one yet. A new Santorum low:

I’m not sure how Mr. Bain Capital’s “haha someone had to take out a mortgage to make sure I didn’t win against him” is going to do in underwater-housing spots like Florida. I suppose he’ll trot that remark out when he goes to Nevada, Michigan, and Arizona too…
Darn. Missed it.
Maybe at tomorrow nite’s 43rd District Democrats SOTU watch party at the Red Door in Fremont (5-8, $10′ but will buy some cider to share), you can tell me what the best part was.
That was a load of fun, thanks again Paul and everyone else.
In my opinion, Mitt may not have won, but Newt didn’t bring the fire that set him apart in SC. Mitt started to defend himself with some gusto, but still couldn’t muster the authentic fake anger that Newt and Santorum have mastered. Florida is not beyond Mitt’s grasp. Time will tell if I’m right.
Mittens ain’t half the grifter Swingrich is.
My only fear for the election is stupid liberals staying home because Obama wasn’t left wing George Bush and giving the election to the old potato-headed crook.
The “Republican Media Elites” are already branding this as with a win for Romney, or at the very least, a draw which will slow Newt’s momentum. (See Andrew Sullivan’s wrap.)
But that’s exactly what the Republican mainstream/realists want you to see…because they know Newt its too erratic.
So Mittens does actually tithe at an appropriate amount per his tax forms. But, averaged over a two year period his income is over $45 million and his taxes are just over $6 for an average tax rate of 13.9%.
While others can make hay over this, Newt may have to tread a little lightly as I’m sure his billionaire benefactors the Adelsons are probably is a similar bracket.

All coverage of the Republi-clown “presidential” race is stupid by definition.
American politics is vapid and meaningless. The social contract is busted. Any engagement that imparts legitimacy to these proceedings, even mocking, implies an acceptance of an illegitimate process.
The best thing to do at this point is ignore them. And the Democrats for that matter. It’s all bullshit, don’t lend them a fig leaf by playing their game.
Dang it, did I just miss another debate? Oh well, I’m sure I didn’t miss anything worth my time.
Someone mentioned the Newt/Paul courting ritual…if Paul threw his constituency behind Gingrich (which would never happen for Romney), then it is off to the races.
And anyone who isn’t reading “The Pact” is missing out on understanding NG.

Young Newt comes off as a Napoleon Dynamite candidate who keeps asking, can’t we all just get along!
