…but his web connection is slow.

Man, wouldn’t it be great to live in the future? Because then there’s gonna be this totally cool technological way to have anonymous sex partners delivered right to your door! Damn.

  1. For a good laugh, watch the movie with the commentary. Any time the gorgeous Jenny Aggutter is seen with the kit off Mr. York gets a little embarrassed and apologizes profusely to her.

  2. Yes, but unlike Manhunt, he forgot to ask them to “unlock” their pictures so he could view the “goods” first, and then negotiate for hours on end, only to realize he’s wasted hours of talking to the same tired internet trolls and shut-ins he’s dealt with on other sites.

  3. Man, wouldn’t it be great to live in the past when the formation of letters by quill pen would be slow enough that you might not garble so many sentences that I have to read most of them twice?

    But, what you said… yeah.

  4. I’ve long admired Logan’s casual, non-disgusted refusal of the man that appears first, and his matter-of-fact question to the hesitant Jessica, “Oh, do you prefer women?” Even in 1976, the filmmakers recognized that in the future, homosex would be just as common and accepted as heterosex.

  5. Let me guess how these dots got connected…

Saddlebacking Rick Warren says “support Jesus like Nazi kids supported Hitler” -> Nazi kid sings in Caberet -> Caberet features Micheal York -> Micheal York stars in Logan’s Run.

Allow me to continue the chain…

Logan’s Run also features Peter Ustinov -> Ustinov famously played Agatha Christie’s Poirot -> Poirot was Belgian -> Bruges is a Belgian City -> In Bruges stars a wicked Ralph Fiennes -> Fiennes’ Count Laszlo has a complex relationship with the Nazis in The English Patient -> like Laszlo, Obama is using Nazi-loving Warren to achieve his own ends -> DADT and DOMA get repealed without creating a backlash that could put Palin in office.

  6. @10,

Maybe but consider that the first lesson Jessica and Logan learn upon leaving the city is the importance of marriage, making babies, and family. I take the casual acceptance of gay sex in that movie as more of an indictment of that society’s decadence. I mean, is Brave New World an endorsement of drugs and casual sex?

  7. @10, Bisexuality was in vougue in the 70’s. Everybody who was anybody planted rumors about being bi. Mick Jagger, Bowie, Heff….

When AIDS hit, bisexuality vanished faster than corduroy. Suddenly all those rumors were just false rumors.

  8. Sure, the anonymous sex would be great, but the jumpsuits … not so much. As usual, the geniuses behind Spaced can express this idea far better than I ever could:

Tim: Mmm. So how does it feel to be twenty-six?
    Daisy: Uh…a bit gas-y.
Tim: Oh, well, you’re getting old. You’d be dead in four years. If this was “Logan’s Run.”
Daisy Steiner: Ah, that would be terrible.
Tim: I know. I look like a twat in a jumpsuit.
Daisy Steiner: Don’t say that, Tim. That’s a word that hates women.
    Tim: What? “Twat”?
    Daisy Steiner: No, “jumpsuit.”
