He’s not a homo, he’s a queen. Drama queen.
I am so glad there was no such thing as YouTube when I was 12 and full of angst.
He’s not gonna go on a shooting spree. He’s just gonna grow up to blackmail and sexually assault minors. I think your blog has a stance on this issue already.
Kind of ruins my day.
I feel sad for the poor thing.
If you watch the original anti-gay marriage video, he says that he used to be gay (?!?), but then heard on the news that being gay is a sin, so now he is very interested in girls, and is not gay anymore.
I feel really sorry for this kid. He’s the type of closeted teen who’ll go on to hurt himself. All because of the Christian love of the pro-life gang!
Bahahahaha. His video on gay marriage is choice: “picture getting married… to… your hand. I know it seems abnormal, but that’s how abnormal being gay married is.”
Also: “I used to be gay, but then… then I decided it’s wrong, and I stopped it, and now I’m very interested in girls…”
If (a) I think he had the mental capacity for it, and (b) it didn’t look like he was in tears or just plain drugged up I’d pin this as an elaborate, clever hoax. Instead it just seems like the inane ramblings of a troubled, closeted individual who is torn between being an honest human being and worshipping some invisible man in the sky.
The worst part is is that he’s feeding the fire and seems totally oblivious to it. As if being an upright (vindictive, judgmental) Christian will somehow make him right in the eyes of his peers. Yes, his camera should be taken away, and if his family cared a lick about him they’d move and start over somewhere more liberal.
But these kids don’t go on shooting sprees. That comes off as a sick, twisted “he’ll get even with those bigots someday” fantasy on the part of the author. Why don’t you look back through your archives and see where this is going?
I think you are correct. He needs parental supervision of what he posts on the internet. The sad thing is that this may follow him his whole life (at least through high school).
And it is just not right to be jumping on pre-teens for their opinions. At that age they don’t really have any opinions of their own, just their parents ones.
It’s stuff like this that does make one wish that parents were a little more involved in their kids’ online activities.
Whatever his family’s beliefs or whatever understanding he’s been able to cobble together about homosexuality and marriage equality aside (and those are some pretty big and multifaceted issues for a child to wrap his brain around), the fact that his parents allowed him to post (and continue to post) video commentary about such a hot-button issue just feels ill-advised. He’s now a propaganda tool for the anti-gay lobby, a whipping boy for for the pro and just cannon fodder for all the assholes of the world. The kid is obviously sensitive to the responses he is getting and this has to be taking a toll on his psyche.
Step up, parents!
Hm. And lest I come across as too harsh, I’d like to clarify that while I find his rhetorical technique absolutely hilarious, the child himself is deserving of pity. Hopefully he gets these warped ideas out of his head before he gets much older.
Likewise I agree with the comments that parental supervision is key. If I had a video camera in 8th-9th grade, I’d be dealing with the aftermath of the ghost of a younger me stating “Hey, Brave New World is pretty cool, let’s try eugenics,” and “Ayn Rand is awesome! .” Fortunately I had neither the self-importance/bravado nor the lack of parental supervision to enable such a bad choice.
As a parent of an 11 year old, I am aghast. The parents should be shot.
That breaks my heart. So many kids grow up hating themselves for something they cannot change. He needs some serious counseling so he can learn not to be ashamed of who he is, and learn to respect himself as a gay teen.
That poor little boy. his parents really should pay more attention to what he is doing.
This is your kid.
This is your kid on your dogma.
This is your kid on your dogma without context and without you.
Any questions?
You know this kids’ parents flip the fuck out when they want to teach medically accurate sex ed at school, yelling about “let us parent our children”. Then they go home and don’t care enough to catch this.
This is sad. The Youtube terms of use should prohibit minors from creating accounts and posting videos.
No good will ever come out of children videotaping themselves and publishing it on the internet.
I feel so very, very sad for this kid. Youtube isn’t a great place for someone like that to be hanging out, let alone posting videos.
Soooo, does anyone think (after watching that sad, fat little closet case) that maybe Chris Crocker really isn’t the anti-Christ after all?
this kid is gonna have to pull some brilliant social gymnastics to live this stuff down. seriously, his parents must be fucking clueless. my brother and i used to record ourselves on cassette saying the stupid kind of stuff that kids say, those tapes would be embarrassing enough. translate that to video, placed in the public domain forever…the kid’s in trouble…
Maybe it’s just bad video quality, but it looked like stop motion. Glazed eyes, huge mouth, over-expressive lip movements…
Though I feel kind of bad for the kid, he seems socially awkward at best.
