Holy crapoli. I can’t believe these Sprint phone relay operators can dictate this stuff without laughing even a little bit. If it were up to me, they’d all get some sort of real classy wood and brass Employee of the Month plaque…

  1. Kind of dickish to abuse this service for laffs. But I will mention a funny relay story. I worked at a pizza place (you can guess which) taking phone orders. We’d sometimes get relay calls, and once someone got a majorly angry call about a messed up order. The relay operator is obligated to say everything on their TTY console, so she dutifully repeated every swear word (and apologized because she felt bad about it).

  2. @9 the relay operator is obligated to say every word, but shouldn’t have apologized. Communication assistants are not to take part in the conversation or express an opinion about it.

  3. I always loved relay calls when I worked in a call center. They were a hell of a lot more interesting than regular ones at least. I’m just amused that they can up and take a break during a call because their client won’t know the difference.

“Yeah it’s time for my lunch Bill will be taking over from here.”
