  2. The real meaning of this day, Feb. 2, is that it is a “cross-quarter day”, and traditionally a pagan holiday. It is half way between the winter Solstice and the vernal Equinox. (it’s a holiday in the same way that Halloween is half way between the autumnal Equinox and winter Solstice. The holiday’s name is Brigid, For the *snake* who would poke it’s head up out of its burrow to assess the warming days. That was clearly changed to a warm, fuzzy mammal later on in the US.

    The days get noticeably longer –faster– from this day forward! That’s the real meaning of today.
