Being from Northern Michigan, it’s really hard to take this dusting of snow very seriously. Over there it’s nothing to wake up to several feet of accumulation. Granted it’s also FLAT. Flat as a potato pancake. And just about everyone owns one, if not two of these. There’s also Yooper Scoopers, lots of salt, and all kinds and shapes of snow plows. Snow plows are key. Once one of ’em goes by, life returns to it’s regularly scheduled programming. Snow day OVER.

Or you can do what we do here in the mid-atlantic, which is to close everything. I’ve driven in the snow exactly once, and I was terrified.
i’ve never heard the term “yooper scooper” before but i knew exactly what you meant before i clicked the link. i don’t miss that shit at ALL.
Driving in the snow isn’t as uncontrollable as everyone thinks. Tap-tap-tap the brakes. Then, once you get used to tapping and fish-tailing, you can start perfecting the perfect DONUT. I wish I had a car today. I used to be to whip a mean donut…

I used to be ABLE to
“Transplanted Midwesterners and Northeasterners telling Seattle-ites to ‘calm the fuck down’ when it snows are annually the most annoying folks in our fair city.”
Big up to Escanaba.
Yes but we transplanted Midwesterners only do it once or twice a year. It’s like elections.
Representing the Saginaw “metropolitan” *snerk* area here.
the ‘burbs of marquette, motherfuckers
Not to discount the the mayhem of pie eating contests live from the cherry festival, but that has to be the most entertaining thing to come out of 9&10 News. Maybe ever.
@8 cajun chicken sandwich at the vierling, and then up to Snowbound to do some shopping.
@5: Get over it, plz. I’m a transplant, and the teasing is all in good fun.
Straight from Kalamazoo, y’all! I used to whip mean donuts after ski club. Cheesy fun, and we gotta get our kicks somewhere.
Thanks for bringing it, Kelly O!
Kelly O, Ishpeming?
Spokane= 2 feet in the last 24 hours. Bitches.
#12. No, just Kelly O, Alpena… Been to Ishpeming though! And Marquette, Sault Ste. Marie, Iron Mountain, the Porcupine Mts, and Copper Harbor.
Oh, and I used to date a snow plow driver from Menominee. Pumpkin Head the Snow Plow Driver….
Good ol’ 9&10! I hated Dan Farkas a whole lot.
Where in the Upper is it flat? The places I went to were really hilly. And midwesterners are annoying when they complain about the weather unlike pussy ass Seattleites who are constantly annoying.
as I remember it, if 9&10 weren’t allowed to report on car crashes they’d have nothing but dead air for long stretches of newscasts.
and really, northern michigan is only relatively flat.
Representing Traverse City MI here! We have an ass load of snow right now, hasnt stopped snowing for about a week.
hey.
at least “annoying seattlites” aren’t, you know, from southern california or anything. people complain when it gets down to 55. hell, I used to complain when it got that cold.
ps,
i slipped on ice while riding my bike today
owie
Hey! I loved this post, having just moved this summer from Seattle to Marquette, in the great UP. I’ve got my Yooper Scooper, my snowblower (with cab attachment), and a remote start for my 4WD. Winter here is arduous! We are BURIED in snow today. And last week we were below zero. At least the sun shines a lot during the SIX MONTHS of winter . . . Go Wildcats!
