Apparently, the SPD just can’t appreciate a good joke when they hear one.

A guy was thrown out of a Belltown bar shortly after midnight on Friday, May 31, and subsequently arrested for allegedly threatening patrons and a female bartender with death threats and a pair of pliers.

According to a police report, the Belltown bartender told police she stopped serving a customer in his early 20s after noticing the man was “becoming aggressive with other customers,” the report states. The customer allegedly responded by grabbing her and telling her “I am going to fucking kill you,” the report continues.

After being escorted outside by other club-goers, the bar’s bouncer told police that the suspect threatened to kill him, reportedly by bragging “that he was a Colombian gang member” and as such “I’ll bring you death.” At that point, witnesses told police that the suspect reached into his back pants pocket and allegedly brandished a pair of pliers in a threatening manner. The bouncer “stepped back… because he initially thought [the suspect] was grabbing for a gun or knife after he just threatened to kill him.”

At that point, a woman came out to intervene (perhaps the bartender againโ€”the report’s redactions make it unclear) the suspect reportedly asked her: “You want my big-ass balls in your mouth?” He went on to give a few more of what I’m sure were lovely comments to the lady before walking away.

The report says the police found the suspect “between the two bars… again yelling at and threatening people in the area.”

Regarding the alleged threats towards the bartender, he later told police “he was just kidding,” the report states.

All joking aside, he was arrested.
