A 24-year-old man was shot in the leg in the parking lot of the Westwood Village McDonald’s last night after a dispute over a vehicle sale turned violent.

According to police, the 24-year-old man recently sold a vehicle to a 23-year-old man but did not provide the title. Around midnight last night, police say, the two men got into an argument about the sale and the 23-year-old man pulled out a handgun and shot the other man in the leg. He then fled the scene in a silver Honda Accord.

The 24-year-old man was treated by medics at the scene and was taken to Harborview.

Although a gang unit detective was on-scene following the shooting, SPD spokeswoman Renee Witt says the incident does not appear to be gang-related.

Congratulations, Captain Obvious! An attempted car sale between two invidivuals typically isn’t a gang related activity. If I’m, say, a Blood, I’m probably not trying to sell a Honda to a Crip.

This was a dumb call to the gang unit. Just because individuals involved with a crime are ethnic or colored doesn’t mean it’s a possible gang crime.

  3. not really that surprised that The Stranger/Slog is ignoring the shooting last night at the suburban Wal-Mart where a security guard was killed during a robbery…’cause you know, judging by the reporting a couple weeks ago during the whole idiotic REI/douchebag photographing the ATM guards incident, that security guards are stupid, Fascists whose jobs aren’t very important or dangerous…
