Last Wednesday afternoon, SPD officers Robin Roberts and Eddie Rivera were dispatched to the downtown corner of Broad Street and Second Avenue to investigate reports of a lop-sided showdown between a man with a gun and three people who had apparently offended him.
It started out innocently enough, as these things often do. The threesome was walking down Broad Street when they passed a man who “intentionally shoulder-bumped” one of them, the police report states. The bumpee then turned and told the man “he should say ‘excuse me’ after bumping into someone.”
That comment predictably led to “a short verbal exchange” between the parties before the lone man walked on. However, the report states that after walking a block away, the man “yelled at the victims to get their attention. The victims turned and observed the suspect holding a pistol pointed at the sidewalk.”
The suspect then reportedly asked the victims “what they were going to do.” They responded by running for their lives and calling 911.
Officers Roberts and Rivera tracked down the suspect, who was allegedly carrying with him a pellet gun, not a revolver. Still, the suspect was taken into custody because it turns out that brandishing a pellet gun is “the same as brandishing a real gun,” explains SPD spokeswoman Renee Witt when asked about the consequences of threatening strangers with a pellet gun. “That’s how we treat it.”

Angrily Waving Pellet Gun = Taken into custody
Carrying Folded Carving Knife = Shot on sight
Got it. Thanks for the clarification.
How on earth did this man not end up dead? With the SPD, that’s amazing.
@2 – melanin deficiency, would be my guess.
Must have been white.
I wish he’d been able to find a AR15 lying around when he needed one.
What the fuck is happening to Seattle? My dog and I had a gun pulled on us around 3 am a few nights ago in Ravenna Park for no sane reason I could figure out. We were walking on the main service road through the forest, down by the baseball field on the Uvillage end of the park. Just minding our own business and next thing I know a bright flashlight is being pointed at us and a thin barreled silver revolver like gun was in his other hand. First he pointed it at my dog, then at me, all I could say was please don’t shoot my dog. I called the cops when we got home but the spd couldn’t catch vd in a whorehouse. Hopefully this is the same guy.
Let’s see: You’re walking in Ravenna Park at 3AM, and you get into a beef with some other troll. You don’t call police until you get home.
And somehow this is SPD’s fault?
Come on, shitbag. Let’s try and keep it realistic.
