holy shit, seriously? is that a fuck you or just another example of morbid ignorance?
Hey Jewish community! Come help us set up for Christmas!
This is pretty tame. As a Jew I was expecting the worst from the White House Hanuka card. Perhaps a picture of Jesus asking, “Do you know where you’ll be spending eternity?” Or at the very least an Uncle Sam saying, “I want you to help us bring in the Rapture.”
My guess is that this is the all-purpose invitation for winter holiday celebrations at the White House. But still. Why not just have a snowy White House photo?
Since Hanukkah overlaps with Christmas this year, we’ll be serving a country ham with a side of latkes on the 25th. Lovely.
Do you think that’s just the standard invite to holiday-related things at the White House this year and they just didn’t bother to change it? Or did someone specifically create this invite for the Hanukkah reception?
Either way, whoever sent that out is, uh, not the brightest bulb on the tree.
currently at archie mcphee: santa claus dreidels. near the front counter. chutzpah!
Apparently this was not some multi-purpose seasonal card. It was sent specifically to Jewish leaders and was originally supposed to show a menorah given to Truman.
So they sent the wrong card? 53 days and counting.
This reminds me of eitherthe West Wing or some movie where the White House fucked up and sent pigskin luggage to a muslim leader.
Ya know – I saw this in the news and thought ‘it can’t be true.’
Guess I was wrong. But isn’t it nice that Dubbya doesn’t change stripes at the end?
Better than sending out Chick-tracts, I guess.
Even better than Santa dreidels: “Oy to the World” by the Klezmonauts. “Re-worked” Christmas carols. 😉
What would you expect from a twisted religious zealot who thinks God told him to invade Iraq? Don’t forget how he and his father filled the Supreme Court with papists. It will be good to see his ass leaving! Very good.

@ Julie in Chicago,
“Not the brightest bulb on the tree” pretty much sums up entire Bush administration, doesn’t it? I certainly wouldn’t expect competence from any of them at this point of the game.
