Remember McLeod Residence? There was a murder there during its long-ago days as a speakeasy—someone involved in the operation was involved with the daughter of a local Chinese businessman/mobster, and this someone was beheaded in the bathroom. Its most recent incarnation got shut down—a tragedy—due to various complications arising from hellish fire codes. Crowds of mourners thronged the wake.

Tonight, McLeod Residence lives.

In partnership with the owner of the (great) new bar Bathtub Gin, the McLeods are reuniting to celebrate the anniversary of their collective death tonight from 7 pm to whenever, in the (great) old McLeod space (2209 2nd Ave, between Bell and Blanchard). $20 at the door includes four drink tickets.

  1. Dear BJC:

2209 was not a speakeasy. It was a boarding house, then a flop house, then the top two floors were condemned and razed, then more boarding and/or flopping, then some Scientologist rented and lived there and dated the wrong girl and was murdered for it. Then it was leased by some hipsters, who sometimes had rent parties and sold drinks after hours, then some other hipsters who raised a child there. Then McLeod.

Oh, and at some point some gay prostitutes with a sex swing lived there.

That is all there is to know about the Trust Building.

  2. Wow. A totally awesome guy like Marcus is incorrectly labeled AND mindless coked out hipsters come out in the same sentence? Funny because I hung out at McLeod quite a bit and the only thing I can stand less than cocaine is mindlessness- which FART seems to be able to experience without cocaine or a sense of being hip. Lame.
