From Slog tipper Benjamin:

I work at the UW and have a view of red square from my office. Someone apparently just lit themselves on fire in red square. We saw lots of white smoke and a large crowd. The fire is out and someone is down. Fire department and ambulance have arrived and are taking the person away. No word on motivation, protest, or anything. Can’t see much but the current webcam pic is here:

  1. Someone is really really angry that UW went Red now aren’t they?

Whatever happened to picketing or chanting for protest purposes.

College kids… so damn dramatic and all

  2. Have any of you ever seen videos from the Vietnam wear where people who have been napalmed run screaming in agony while they burn?
That type of pain is what this person experienced. I think it is dusgusting that it amuses you. You lack even normal compassion let alone empathy.

  3. Uh, this guy set himself on fire. Hard to feel compassion or empathy for someone who deliberately inflicts that kind of pain on himself.

  4. Fuck compassion for someone who deliberately inflicts that on a human being (himself in this case). And the asshole also inflicted the sight of a burnt-up still alive body being hauled away on everyone around.
