Another day, another glitter-bombing. Though this one is more of a glitter-sprinkling:

Can you feel the change in the air? These brave warriors are reshapring the very fabric of our national identity with these clever protests. Sprinkle on, you fearless soldiers. Sprinkle on.

  1. I think if you’re going to glitter-bomb someone, take the damn shaker off.

Strange Glitter fact – It’s cheaper to buy glitter online in 1 Lb jars than it is to buy 25 lb bulk boxes. I think it’s because anyone buying 25+ lbs of glitter is up to something nefarious. (Thank you job, for making it so that I must find such things out.)

  2. At least the glitter bombers are doing something by calling out our vile, evil politicians for spreading gay hatred that’s ruined countless lives. What are you doing about it?

  3. can’t wait to read all the outrageous outrage when this is done to Obama, at least Bachmann is honest on this issue…

  4. @3, I was joking, but I can’t think of anything that an individual would cover with that much glitter that I would like seeing the results. (Anti-gay politicians being the exception. Although, I think hitting someone with 25lbs of it would lead to some kind of assault charge.)

  5. One of the coolest things I saw was a mom and her daughter who had put glitter streamers in their red hair when riding to the UW on the bus.

But I agree with sloegin. Giant papier mache’ heads ftw.

  6. Our great grandparents used to throw sticks of dynomite at people they didn’t like. Hell they used to go on strike too. And now we are throwing glitter….

Yeah, we’re pretty much fucked if this counts as “protest”.

but Countdown is on tonight with Keith O on Current TV!!!!

  7. I personally thought that the pies in the face of various global leader-jerks by the Biotic Baking Brigade in the late 90s and early ’00s were more poignant and effective. (Effective = humiliating.)

These jerks need to get pied in the face, not sprinkled with glitter, IMHO. (Although glitter is notoriously hard to get out, and you would be sparkling all day long after one of these hits.)

@14 – True, but our great-grandparents were more likely to be shot dead while striking or protesting, so dynamite was a reasonable counter-action. Today in the USA, no one gets a bullet to the head at a political protest or strike. Times are a-changin’ … Anyway, violent protest is very a bad P.R. move, and brings the full (violent) wrath of The Man down on you. Non-violent protest is a far better long-term strategy, and cameras are more powerful than pistols in this day and age.

Back to Direct Action 101 with you!
