From the 2012 press release:

Monster Jam is heading back to the Tacoma Dome from January 13 – 15. The engagement in 2012 will mark a special celebration as the 30th Anniversary of the monster truck icon Grave Digger® ! That celebration kicks off in Tacoma as the first stop of the West Coast tour!

I don’t even have kids, but wouldn’t it seem a little spooky to take your little ones to the Monster Jam at the Tacoma Dome? I mean, this just happened a couple of years ago. I guess money talks and [terrified] parents walk?

  1. It was a freak accident. I don’t have ill will towards the show coming back to town, I just have no interest in seeing it.

With that being said, I do have a bone to pick with the NHL regarding the netting that they’ve installed at every arena. One spectator in 84 years of hockey games dies from a puck hitting her on the head (off a deflection, mind you, not even a straight shot from a stick) and the knee-jerk reaction is to install the netting which gives obstructed views to most of the fans watching the games.

That probably makes me seem like an ass, but one freak accident death in 84 years vs. better viewing for all is a trade off I’m willing to make. God forbid someone hits their head on the ice after a body check and dies on the ice, the sport will have to eliminate checking from the game.

    Back to monster trucks…

  2. What a tragedy! My heart goes out to the family. And to the Dad, it’s not your fault, don’t ever blame yourself. This could happen anywhere, anytime, we just cannot protect our children from everything. If you blame yourself, it’s time for you to forgive yourself, you’re a good man, and you were being a good dad, it’s just things happen sometimes. I’m sorry. I’ll keep you in my prayers.

  3. Oh my gosh I am just so gosh darn incensed about how evil and insensitive this one company is about something that happened three years ago that everybody had generally come to terms with and moved on from

  4. god that is so sad 🙁 i feel so bad for that poor boy.

in other news, who the F pays money to watch trucks, smash into more trucks???
