Slog reader Jane Cipra sends photos:
I don’t know if these photos are as alarming to you as they are to me, but Joshua Tree National Park, in the Mojave Desert, got more snow than you.
Climate change is so exciting! You just never know what you’re going to get!

More (beautiful, eerie/Seussian) photos after the jump.

If Palm Springs got snow, that means there’s a bunch of unhappy gay campers at all the sex resorts…it’s not much fun to frolic nekkid outside with snow drifts lapping at your acorns.
All the smug assholes who think that the presence of snow means global warming is a myth should be reminded that weather is not climate.
That’s a great picture. Not to be “that guy”, but it snows there fairly regularly during cooler years.
Um no, it doesn’t. Not like this. Not 18″.
@1, Joshua Tree is not particularly close to Palm Springs, and is much higher.
That’s why Hunter Lovins calls it “Global Weirding” rather than “Warming”.
Spooky. We went to J-Tree a couple of years ago in late January to go climbing, and it was in the low 70’s during the day, the high 20’s at night.
This snow will do wonders for the desert bloom later on, but it is so strange to see…
The end is fucking NIGH.
Joshua Tree is up in the mountains, above 3000′ elevation, so snow is not unexpected in winter. Pretty pictures!
I’m a smug asshole
Elevation Joshua Tree National Park- 2000 to 6000 feet.
Elevation Seattle- 0 to 520 feet.
I’m a smug asshole who recycles. Come on people- seriously.
A little snow is alarming???? Are we thinking about climate change here? Or, is it hypervigilence, a mental disorder?
I have to thank Jane Cipra for sending this and Slog for posting it because I would never have known there was snow there. I showed this post to my friend and yesterday we got up early and drove from LA to check it out. It was beautiful, and surreal. You guys can argue about elevations all you want — but I got to throw snowballs.
