A school bus driver called Seattle Police yesterday after a motorist pulled a gun on him in an apparent road rage incident.

According to a police report, the driver was attempting to merge with traffic on the Alaskan Way Viaduct when a maroon 1990s Volvo pulled in front of him. The Volvo slowed down and began swerving in front of the bus, the report says, “narrowly missing [the bus] each time.”

As the bus driver tried to get away from the Volvo, the motorist pulled along the right side of the bus and pointed a handgun out their window, before speeding off.

No children were on the bus at the time of the incident.

The bus driver wrote down the Volvo’s plate number and gave it to police, but officers were unable to contact the Volvo’s owner.

  7. That’s some fine police work there, Lou. You got a license plate number, but the address probably isn’t anywhere near a Dunkin Donuts or Dennys, so no officers have been able to make contact. Maybe if that Volvo pulls in to a Jack in the Box drive through they’ll get the break they need. Or maybe the Volvo was registered at 1060 W Addison St in Chicago?

So much death seems to have been swirling around lately, its sad. I’m stunned. Please, Slog staff, do a writeup or find out more info, please.

  13. Just a legal note. This IS assault, and it did INVOLVE a weapon, so *unable to contact* hardly cuts it. Your tax dollars hard at work doing very little.

  14. man..elswinger..that’s the saddest news i heard this week his last entry… is almost too much for words.. and that he was looking forward to attending slog happy last night too. i never met him, but he was so present here i fell like i was really getting to know him . my deepest condolences to his family and friends.
    i miss him already.

  16. If the police get a break and find that Volvo, they’ll bust him. But don’t take the all-too-vogue trash the SPD at every turn – blame their budget and resources. Most are hard working and dedicated individuals working on our behalf.

  20. No, but if a camera gets a pic of your plate, you get a ticket in a hot minute!!!

    Right. Because mailing out those tickets takes very little police time and money to do. The SPD can afford do things that don’t take money and manpower; they aren’t given the budget to hire more cops to do the things we want them to be doing.

    You get what you pay for. QED.
