CNBC’s David Faber broke zero hearts this morning by reporting that Rupert Murdoch is stepping down from his role as CEO of 21st Century Fox. He’s handing off the crown to his son, James. During this transition of power, Murdoch’s other son, Lachlan, will partner with his brother to rule the the media outlet responsible for so much fair and balanced reporting.
Faber also says that investors are fine with this transition, believing that James Murdoch has “matured” since his handling of the World phone-hacking scandal back in 2012.
The only hopeful thing about this media-gazey news is that it rhymes so well with another, more Roman transition of power.
