Earlier today, Newt Gingrich defended Donald Trump from Ron Paul’s charges that a Trump-moderated debate would be a “circus,” and that Trump was, basically, a buffoon. (This is the same press conference I told you about earlier today, where Gingrich suggested Trump choose ten kids to be his, in Trump’s words, “apprentii.”) Then, a Ron Paul “campaign source” responded with a scathing e-mail to Politico:

We agree, of course, with former Speaker Gingrich โ€” this is a country of people of enormous talent. Those who deliver thousands of babies like Dr. Paul and those who spend their time focusing on promoting themselves for profit. We even have those who lobby, but don’t call it such because, as they say, they can make $60,000 per speech. While those of us in the Paul camp might disagree with Newt Gingrich about whether Donald Trump is the right man to host a serious political debate, we do agree New York is a wonderful place to go at Christmas. We are sure two average Americans like Speaker Gingrich and Donald Trump will have a wonderful time picking out gifts for their wives. We suggest a place called Tiffany’s, we her it is quite nice this time of year and given their celebrity status they can probably get special deals and $500,000 lines of credit.

I absolutely love how much the Ron Paul people hate Newt Gingrich.

  1. @3: For about the millionth time, I am reminded that I have never read a criticism of IV by someone with a competent understanding of IP law.

  2. Everybody’s people hate Newt. Paul’s people, Romney’s people, Obama’s people, anybody that has people. The People’s Court would convict him of crimes against humanity and hair, if they could distinguish him from Doug Lewellyn. The People’s History of the United States has him on the Ten Least Wanted list.

    Gingrich may face election struggle

President Bush was reportedly so angry with Gingrich that, at a White House reception shortly afterward, he walked away from a receiving line rather than …

  3. I have spent many a bemused hour wondering just HOW he could spend that much at Tiffany’s…..and then I remind myself that (if history is any guide) he’s buying for more than just the current Missus. It runs into some bucks, that serial monogamy thing….

  4. I think its funny to hear libertarians praising more altruistic things and denigrating selfish ones. The market clearly favors speaking and doing whatever the hell Donald Trump does these days over delivering babies. Suck it up looters.

  5. I loathe Ron Paul but he stands out by being one of the most human Republicans out there. He’s still not right because he thinks the right things, but for stopped-clock reasonings. He remains an insane asshole on the whole.

  6. @12: You should probably read more about him. On the periphery, he looks great. The more you read from unbiased sources, the more you’ll come to fear.
