Yeah, um, that’s the most positive spin I could think to put on this lede:
AMES, Iowa — Tim Pawlenty was first in line to enter the Republican presidential race. He is now fighting to avoid becoming the earliest major candidate to be shown the door.
According to the Times, no Republican candidate has followed a more “conventional playbook” than Pawlenty, which may help explain the conventional Pawlenty’s abject failure to gain traction with Republican voters. There’s simply nothing conventional about the tea-infused GOP anymore. Even conservative columnist David Brooks questions whether the Republican Party is still a “normal party.”
It’s not.

To paraphrase Drew Westen, there are three branches of the RepubliKKKan Party: The lunatic hate-crazed fringe, the neo-fascist corporate supremacists and the Democrats.
So…they’re all bad and we’re all good…isn’t that just the same extremist ideology like Bush’s axis of evil?
Most Republicans I know describe their current lineup as a bunch of idiots. They just don’t have anyone who can win against our guy so why risk it unless you’re a loon/expendable?
A) That David Brooks piece is epic. I have forwarded it to everyone I know. The rise of the Tea People is the ugliest, scariest and most fascinating sociologic phenomenon I’ve ever seen rear its head in this country…
B) In addition to all the other myriad ways in which they suck, I’m also pissed at those bigots for using the grand word ‘Tea’ to refer to themselves. I know Tea. I’m good friends with Tea. You, bigoted ignorant sirs and madams, are no ‘Tea’.
Earl Grey weeps.
@3: Earl Grey isn’t tea! High mountain oolong: now THAT’S tea.
Goddam philistine.
Oooooo fightin’ words!
I see your High Mountain Oolong, and I raise you some Lapsang Souchong!! HA!!
Put THAT in your teapot and brew it!
