For the first time in history, beer is being made at the White House—using equipment the Obamas bought with their own money. The result: White House Honey Ale.

  1. How dare he play around with some home brewing kit instead of pressing the magic jobs button! The magic jobs button is the only thing he should be doing at all, ever!

  2. Doubt if it was the first time in history. Gentleman farmers like Washington (granted, he never lived in the edifice we know today) and Jefferson would have been up on all kinds of things we consider blogworthy these days: the making of cheese, wine, cider, beer, on and on.

  3. (When they weren’t praying their sox off and trying to add bits of Leviticus to the Bill of Rights, that is.) ^h^h^h^h as needed…

When they weren’t banging their slaves silly.

    Fixed that for me.

  4. Yay! Real beer in the White House! As a brewer I’m thrilled. This might get even more folks to give up that bland industrial crap and try something real.

  5. I dont think this is the first time beer has been brewed in the white house. Washington was an avid beer drinker before he suddenly decided it was evil. And it was common custom to drink before politics so the beer was most likely made in house.

  6. The best comment so far:

“Can you imagine if the Bush Crime Family brewed beer? They would have to name it Liars Ale or Demolition Porter or Treason Stout. Or maybe Regulation Light.”

Some (OK, all the ones I read) of the anti-Obama comments are pretty ridiculous. Except for the guy who wrote “I never drank his Kool-Aid, but I’d try his beer”, or something like that.

  7. Umm…

It was the first beer served at the Super Bowl party. A very small batch — 90-100 bottles — all consumed that day.

Guessing this is NOT new news?

  8. …it was common custom to drink before politics….

Let’s consider reviving that custom. Anything’s worth a try at this point.

Better yet: “Care for a brownie, Mr. Speaker? They’re homemade….”

  9. I guess he could take endless vacations in a cattle-free cattle ranch, but we had that for 8 seemingly endless years.

    Cheers to my fellow brewer.

  10. @10, Hell, Bush only drank ginger ale, the wimp.

I’m heartened on this Obama development as I’m on my 8th beer right now. I hope Jimmy Carter is right, and he beats Shitt Romney in 2012!

  11. @KittenKoder, what are you talking about? What meaning is it that you intend to convey with these confusing word jumbles? The only complimentary thing that can be said about your writing is that you don’t replace any letters with numbers. Worst troll. H3H3H3
