West Seattle Blog cheerfully reports that environmental do-gooders Sustainable West Seattle just received a $20,000 grant to help their neighbors stop toxic runoff from streets, sidewalks, etc into Puget Sound. The group will design a traveling circus community outreach presentation where West Seattle residents can learn how to save the earth while maybe winning free water cisterns and organic compost! Huzzah!
Speaking of do-gooders, Aurora Seattle reports that the Fremont Inn, which holds the dubious honor of receiving Seattle’s first ever chronic nuisance property declaration, may soon be transformed into a low-income housing development run by Catholics. Catholic Community Services of Western Washington already runs Aurora neighbor the Aloha Inn, which provides housing, job training, and medical care for homeless adults.
Finally, Maple Leaf Life tearfully reports the disappearance of Penne Pasta, a shorthair brown tabby who fell out of a window last week and has not been seen since. She is “an indoor-only kitty who has NEVER been outside.” Perhaps a local do-gooder will bring her home!
