Hey hey hey, it’s the Questionland iPhone and Android apps!
Now you can get all your itching, burning, rashy questions about life in Seattle answered on the go. Convenient!
If you have a Blackberry, a Palm Pre/Pixi/Poopoo, or another unpopular phone, you can still access Questionland with the groovy mobile-optimized web interface. Just point your phone’s browser to Questionland, and you’re on your way to a world where your questions are answered. Yes, all of them. Now you have time to churn your own butter.
Speaking of which, how do you churn your own butter?
Get the Questionland iPhone app here, and the Android app here.

Question: Is questionland owned by The Stranger? I get the feeling it is, given how low the traffic is there and how often its being pushed on the SLOG.
Thanks for the dual iPhone/Android app! And thanks for the Android version of the SavageLove app!
One important question: When are you folks going to “mobile-optimize” SLOG? I swear, Slog takes longer than most other sites to load on my Androidy phone, and the pictures (after loading and showing) disappear and become a grey square.. with “blank.gif” being the download if you attempt to download the image.
Patientely waiting for m.slog.thestranger.com/blogs/slog/
@2: I was thinking the same thing. Instead of making the happy hour and questionland apps, why not do a better job optimizing the main Stranger site for mobile devices. Trying to look at the music listings on my phone or ipod touch is a massive pain in the ass.
I’d be happy if the embedded post images on slog would display properly without having to turn off javascript on my htc evo. I can get a flash of images on load sometimes, but often all I ever see is the “wait for it” spinning gif. I’m assuming it has to do with page resizing+whatever lightbox plugin you are using.
While I’m venting about slog webdev stuff please stop linking comments to a new window/popup. Some browsers (chrome) will load each one of those comment threads into the same new window/tab rather than multiple tabs. On my android those links load as a narrow popup window over slog and seems more trouble than it is worth to read the comments.
Likes: I have been enjoying the javascript read more vs loading a new page, but wondering if that is affecting your page views/ad impressions.
Does your embrace of android for questionland mean that we will see a happy hour android app too?
Keep up the good work all around. I may have my gripes, but that’s only because I read slog pretty obsessively. Is there a preferred channel for these issues?
@2: You’re aware of http://slog.thestranger.com/blogs/slog/m… , right? (Also accessible via the shorter url of http://slog.thestranger.com/iphone)
@stinkbug
Those mobile versions are too light for my taste and reading multiple articles is painful. The content isn’t the problem (lots of images, ads, videos are fine by me), it’s the layout that makes it a pain in the ass. Start with a friendly column and find more intuitive ways of breaking up the information.
Don’t you go fucking with Slog. It works just fine on my BlackBerry.
Blackberries are so 2001, 5280. God!
Could be . . . but they apparently handle Slog a hell of a lot better than all this newfangled shit.
While we’re bitching, a mobile Line Out page would be nice as well.
I love the SLOG mobile site and read it that way all the time on my Android G2. Learn to love the Prev and Next links at the bottom of each post. (though I wish they were on opposite sides of the page).
@ Kinison. Yup, we’re partners in the project.

Well shit, thank you Anthony!
