Seattle City Council member Sally Bagshaw was on the ground floor of City Hall a couple minutes ago when an elderly man in a wheelchair struck up a conversation with her. The man is here early for a meeting of the city’s commission for people with disabilities. It’s going to be a very long time until the meeting ends, he gets home, and eats dinner. So Bagshaw suggested they head over to the coffee cart while she buys him a sandwich. The man preferred a couple pastries instead—so she bought them for him.
“The thing about Sally is that she’s always been generous,” said the man, munching on a cinnamon roll. Does he know her well? “I’ve just seen her around.”
