Google introduced a bigger search box (for the seeing-impaired?). Facebook introduced Facebook Lite (or at least I finally noticed that they did). And this from the All About Microsoft blog:

If the Tweets coming out of Microsoft’s annual company meeting are on point, the 2.0 release of Microsoft’s Bing search engine is coming this fall, and possibly as soon as next week.

Today, September 10, is the day that about 20,000 or so Softies have descended on Safeco Field in downtown Seattle for their annual pep rally and set of product demos.

Based on a handful of Tweets I’ve seen so far, meeting attendees (including those who are watching remotely) have seen a demo of Bing 2.0. At least one Tweeter claimed the new update of Bing is going to be rolled out the week of September 14.

  2. I used to work at Microsoft. Sinbad opened our annual meeting one year. That’s all I have to add to this, but when you really think about it… well, just think about it. Sinbad.

  7. Sort of amazing that Microsoft still has to physically bring all 20,000 employees into one physical location for a “company meeting”. I mean shades of Bethlehem Steel…whatever happend to Smart Mobs…couldn’t they have a meeting via their Zunes or something?

  9. They do the physical company meeting because the free box lunch, the special location, and the free beer afterwards are all things that can’t easily be avoided the way a webcast can. The Executive team wants employees to see and hear these things to pound in our heads the strategy the company has overall, and it has more impact when presented with some spectacle as opposed to a Powerpoint and a Sharepoint website.

    I call bullshit, baseball games get twice the attendance as this meeting on a nice day than this meeting does, and it ended at 4, so hard to see how it could have ruined your evening when the latest anyone was allowed to stay was 5:30.
