  1. and who needs that much continuity? some people should stay in the past. i dropped off of facebook when people, with whom i never spoke in high school started super-poking me at all hours and leaving me “gifts.” use the telephone, email and um, physicality to keep in touch. facebook need not exist.

  2. @3 – I agree that some people should stay in the past. Just like in the old days, though, you can ignore those people, choose your friends, and get on with your life (even if it’s just a Facebook mockery of a life). The difference is that now, when you ignore someone, they can’t make fun of your clothes in the lunch line.

  3. I do facebook because there are women from high school, 20 years ago, who clearly had crushes on me then of which I was totally unaware. And I live 1500 miles away so I have no worry of temptations/stalkers. Quite the pick-me-up.
