My father, a retired lifelong military man who still gets homeland-security briefings, says our lil’ old ricin scare has made the big time.
I haven’t read anything you guys have written about it, but I saw it on my daily briefing.

Why does a retired military person still get briefings?
hey, me and some friends are about to head out…it’s funny because we were going to go to a “straight” bar on the hill and now of course with this redic threat non-sense…we’re totally supporting and into a big ol GAY BAR pub crawl…should be fun : ) hope the whole town comes.
I love that spam is at least giving you some neat facts. I’d click if they had some new stories.
No offense Brendan, but why should retired personnel STILL receive military briefings? Talk about a waste of resources.

A lot of retired Military become Civilian government employees/contractors. They can still get briefings if they work in that field.

Everything is an outrage, huh? So, if you have a group of people who may be able to offer ideas or solutions to intelligence problems, people who are trained and experienced in this sort of thing, why wouldn’t you give them a low-level heads up on a security situation? Someone might have an answer or an out of the box idea. But no … let’s just stick with the outrage. Because it costs wayyy too much to forward a pdf.
I think the Saturday pub crawl will be far better than the Friday one as the drinks on Saturday will be laced with Ricin (yum) per the letters.

OMG! OMG! KING-5 news at 11pm just did a lengthy story on the ricin letters and the Pub Crawl tonight!!
And guess which bar they filmed the story in front of and inside of???
One of the official pub crawl bars?? Hell NO!!!
They did the story at MADISON PUB!!! (Yes the same Madision Pub that was not on the list of pub crawl bars!)
They showed scenes of a vibrant 8pm crowd at the bar, interviewed Joey, the bar manager, and a couple of patrons on camera, and filmed the “live” stand-up from the Bank parking lot across the street with Madison Pub (with a line out the door) in the background.
Oh the irony….
A tv newsteam (rumored to be CNN) was outside PURR and later did an interview inside The Eagle.
SGN – sgn.org – great solid reporting, front page story on the ricin threat.
The pub crawl’s been fun and the free pizza at Fusion was delish! (may be my new favorite pie place). CC’s was packed when I was there earlier. Yes there was a CNN vid camera man (sort of cute but vibed str8) outside the cuff for a few minutes. Got a shot of the pub crawl banner outsie on the front.

Essentially a free consultant; I used to call these retired officers all the time. Most of these people have accumulated over 30 years in their field and have a wealth of knowledge that is still vital, and since they are retired and not playing political games for promotion the advice can be rather candid. And 99% of the time it’s free except the long-distance charges. The other 1% is when we want the guy to fly out for a face to face meeting.
