He may be sinking in the polls, but he’s got the long green:
Rick Perry sent a clear message to his primary opponents Wednesday: The Texas governor is buckling in for a long campaign.
Forget for a moment the poor debate performances and an embarrassing defeat in last month’s Florida straw poll. With his announced $17 million fundraising haul, Perry proved he’s still a force to be reckoned with.
In other news, Rick Perry came in dead last in BOOM! Comics’ funnybook primary, in which pre-orders for comic book biographies of presidential candidates determine who will be crowned President for Life of Comic Book Land. Barack Obama won; Sarah Palin came in second place (ha ha ha ha). Final tallies are after the jump.

I’m sure the magical unicorns that power Ron Paul’s economic policies will console him.
Rick Perry seems an unlikely candidate for 2012. He seems to be an even more unpalatable version of Bush. given that Obama’s entire campaign in 2008 centered on casting himself as the opposite of George Bush, and it worked, it seems like Obama’s campaign staff would have an easy time of it if Perry were his opponent in 2012. Just take every single ad from 2008, replace every reference to Bush with a reference to Rick Perry, and viola! instant win.
@3 – Voters have a remarkably feeble memory sometimes. If Rick Perry brands himself as the opposite of Obama, it doesn’t matter that people were mad at Bush in 2008 if they’re mad at Obama when they vote in 2012.
