That’s an almost Nixonian profile in the video keyframe there.
The real question is, how much does Rick Perry love this country considering he was all too happy to coyly toy with the notion of secession?
http://www.statesman.com/news/content/re…
Reminder to self (@2), “Read entire post before commenting.”
From the post: Perry is awfully quick to accuse folks of treason, considering he openly flirted with secession not so long ago.
Remember when the Bushies convinced everyone it was unpatriotic to disrespect the president? The GOP haters aren’t afraid to speak out now … duh, could it be because the president is a black man?
Not necessarily, Nancy. Being a Democrat is reason enough.
why does this question even get asked? why would you become POTUS if you didn’t “love” Uhmurka?
I almost didn’t even comment. What’s the point? The guy will say anything to paint the government as tyrannical and antithetical to his beliefs. Reason, logic and truth be damned. I am already tired of this campaign and it’s only three days in.
Can’t someone remind these evangelical shills (Perry, Bachman, Palin, et al.) that one of the ten commandments is to not bear false witness?
@7- The Ten Commandments are in the Old Testament, so they don’t apply. They have accepted Jesus into their heart, and through his Grace they are saved. So they can do whatever the fuck they want.
He’s a rattlesnake.
He’s a rattlesnake.
Mr. Constant,
With reporting like this, do you really wonder why you can’t get a job in real journalism?
I don’t want my president to have served in the military! Talk about undue influence of the military over civilian affairs.
Dude’s a fucking secessionistic dickbag. You don’t get to sit on some patriotic high horse when you were flirting with the idea of splitting away from the country entirely.
I hope his continued habit mouthing off about everybody estranges enough people that his campaign crashes and burns. I mean, you do realize the President needs to look out for the entire nation, Rick, don’t you? You don’t get to just play favorites with Texas while giving everybody else the finger. That isn’t how this office actually works, and you should probably know that before you play at wanting it.
One wonders how Obama would answer the question “Do you know if Rick Perry sucks cock or takes man meat up his ass?”
I think we have the answer Obama should give!!
Obama should issue a pardon for any crimes Perry may ave committed while governor of Texas.
@Tuna
Yeah! Because defending your country in the armed forces is TOTALLY unpatriotic, damn it! And of course anyone who ever was a private or corporal or low grade commisioned officer had too many dealings with defense contractors to avoid a conflict of interest!
You do realize you’re in a tiny minority here, don’t you?
Granted Perry is a moron, but I’m not at all sure that Obama loves this country. Obama obviously doesn’t care about the Constitution or raising the standard of living for the majority of Americans. I know he loves getting elected and compromising, though.
@16: the military rarely “defends” america. it invades, which is offense. i’ll concede tora bora (which we largely outsourced, & botching it), but other than that, WW2? shooting OBL in the face wasn’t exactly self-defense. iraq sure as shit wasn’t self-defense. korea, vietnam? “defense” from the spectre of creeping socialism?
the military is a quasi-religious, self-congratulating, deficit-driving welfare program.
@18
If your view of our history is that revisionist, I can’t imagine what I’d have to say to you.
Or did you forget 9-11 and maybe a good reason a two for shooting OBL in the face?
At Tora Bora would you have preferred we surrender so that you could now be speaking Japanese?
Would you have preferred that the Soviet influence extend through Asia, creating humanitarian nightmares not just in the Baltic states but anywhere they wanted?
You might reflect on the old saying “the best defense is a good offense.”
And I’ll say to you what I told a tour guide in Italy who mouthed that nonsense about American agression. We saved Europes ass twice in a few decades, and have spent the time since defending the effete idiots at our expense. We didn’t ask for a dollar or an acre of ground for our trouble and loss of American life, we just did the right thing expecting nothing in return. All we need from Europe is a polite thank you, and maybe a check for keeping them safe since the end of WW2.
“the military is a quasi-religious, self-congratulating, deficit-driving welfare program.”
On behalf of my brothers, father, grandfathers, friends and brother in law who honorably served this country in her armed forces (being blind in one eye I was ineligible for service) risking their lives so that you could spew your vile hatred of this nation freely-
Go to hell.
I was unaware that the combatants in Tora Bora were Japanese. What on earth were they doing in that part of the world?
@19 “At Tora Bora would you have preferred we surrender so that you could now be speaking Japanese?”
HAHAHAHAHHAHAH. Your grasp of history once again excels. Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tora_Bora
My grandfather was the greatest man I’ve ever known. He was a paratrooper in WWII, shot through the leg while fighting against Rommel in North Africa. A lifelong Democrat, married to an equally fearless union organizer, he once specifically told me that he believed FDR was one of the greatest men who ever lived. I still have his Croix de Guerre and Purple Heart hanging in my bedroom, and think about him often. Most of my great-uncles also served in that war, including one who was assigned to “clean-up duty” in Hiroshima after Japan was conquered, and was never the same afterward.
And the military is, in large part nowadays, a quasi-religious, self-congratulating, deficit-driving welfare program.
Seattleblues, I have officially had about enough of you. Here’s hoping someone skull-fucks you in your good eye, you piece of shit.
For some reason I mixed Tora Bora and Iwo Jima in my mind. An odd mistake I should have caught.
Otherwise, I stand by my statements. Or more succinctly- America, love it or leave it.
@22
I honor your grandfathers service to this country in war. Too bad he and his wife did it a dis-service with regard to the organized crime that is the union. And that he completely took the wrong view of FDR, the worst president this country ever has had or likely will have.
As for calling the service of my family and friends welfare, you also are cordially invited to go to hell. Comparing their dedication and loyalty to the begging of those who refuse to work for their bread or housing or medical care isn’t just insulting, it’s libel.
BTW, thanks for seizing on the one error I made to deflect from your collective inability to refute the balance of the post at 19.
Oh and Catsandbanjos, with respect to your wishing me blind and ‘skull fucked’ (whatever that is,) you have a pleasant day as well.
@24- What you posted @19 is irrefutable because it’s a pure appeal to emotion.
The facts are: America hasn’t faced at threat to our borders in well over a century. The Japanese took a few frozen islands and bombed the shit out of a parked fleet, but there was never a threat we’d be “speaking Japanese.”
“Would you have preferred that the Soviet influence extend through Asia, creating humanitarian nightmares not just in the Baltic states but anywhere they wanted?”
In Korea our forces were attacked while defending an allied country. The Soviets weren’t involved, it was the Chinese. But in that case we did actually help keep out communists…probably the only time.
In Vietnam we decided to join a war in progress, which was a lost cause. Communism probably spread farther as a result of our intervention there.
And the rest of Asia? Well, China is still run by Communists. India and Pakistan both flirted with the Soviets endlessly. We gave Afghanistan to the Russians and let them enjoy a taste of never-ending insurgency… What did the US military do to stop any of that?
Nothing.
And Seattleblues, I do love America. I just don’t love the Christian fascist state you want to establish here.
Seattleblues, my day will be made more pleasant when I hear that you’re blind. And skull-fucked. Look it up.
BTW, am I supposed to “go to hell” or “have a pleasant day”? Make up your mind, you worthless fucking troll.
