Dead from a car accident, according to TMZ.

TMZ spoke with Randy’s brother, Lanny Poffo, who tells us the wrestling legend suffered a heart attack while he was behind the wheel around 9:25 AM … and lost control of his vehicle.

Earlier this month, Savage celebrated his 1-year anniversary with his new wife Lynn.

Savage was 58.

I still think about this at least once a day:

Lindy West was born an unremarkable female baby in Seattle, Washington. The former Stranger writer covered movies, movie stars, exclamation points, lady stuff, large frightening fish, and much, much more....

  1. Is Miss Elizabeth dead too? She was a cutie. I had no idea Leaping Lanny Poffo, the Poet Laureate of the WWF, was his brother! This is indeed a sad, sad day.

  2. God he was only 58? I would have thought late 60s early 70s.

Still as someone who liked wrestling for about 2 year in 4th/5th grade, this makes me sad. I need to re-find that dead wrestler blog I stumbled onto a year or so ago, that was a good read.

  3. Vince@5: well, we’ve yet to hear the final coronor’s report, but my understanding is that he died from injuries sustained in the car accident, not the heart attack itself. Could’ve happened to anyone, steroids or no.
