Time to get that first look at Aaron Curry, TJ Houshmandzadeh, Cory Redding, and our new zone blocking system!

I’ll be announcing the 2009 Slog fantasy league members later this week. If you still want in and haven’t emailed me, do so post-haste. Send me a paragraph or two listing your fantasy football experience (did you have a team last year? Who did you have?), and your Slog handle (if you have one).

  1. A testament to the appeal of the NFL, these awful preseason games draw ratings that 50 MLS games combined couldn’t reach. No, popularity doesn’t equal quality, but in this instance it does. Soccer sucks.

  2. And, in soccer news, David Beckham just got red carded out of the Sounders match in the 17th minute. Glad to see you go go go goodbye!

  3. I’m gamecasting the Hawks while watching the Sounders. That said, I am going out on a limb and saying that Sage Wisdom is the early favorite for fantasy football.

  4. 1-0 up at the half, Beckham out, Galaxy down a man, Lando on the bench with (how appropriate) swine flu. And we’ve hijacked the Seahawks thread. This is good.

  5. Thanks fnarf, you a lifesaver. I in portland and checked a dozen horrid sportsbars and not one are carrying the game. I desperate for updates on my friends blackberry and you the only one I can find!

  6. Is it time to retire Hass?

The dropped passes started from the get go.

Instead of waiting for him to injure his back, or for receivers to be blamed for yet another season, let’s give Wallace and that other guy a shot at the QB position.

Repeating last season would be worse than that option.

  7. The Seahawks have no shot if Hassleback doesn’t play, I dont see how dropped passes are his fault. Dont get me wrong, i doubt he stays healthy and the Hawks were foolish not to make a play for Cutler.

  8. Seahawks have Bronocos’ 2010 1st Round draft pick. QB ? …if Denver does shitty enough this season. Root for them to lose (which you should do anyway).

  9. Zone blocking scheme looked great. There were significant holes opened for the run game. Becoming a run-first offense will open huge passing lanes for the receivers. If Hass and the receivers stay healthy it should make for a good year.
