Slog tipper Jono says:

We have better disasters. What does NYC have? The occasional hurricane, snowstorm or black out. We’re on a fault line and have regular earthquakes, we’re surrounded by volcanic mountains, and we’ve had several tsunamis in our history.

Jono is right, you guys. Our disasters are the best disasters!

  1. Well, at least Mount Rainier is fairly regular, it has a fairly standard periodicity to when the hot boiling mud flows down and scours the flood plains – and Lake Washington – clean.

  2. last summer the madison park beach in lake washington was full of floating dead baby fish… i wont swim there again

but the beach down under the forest over in st. edwards park has very clean water, swam there a few weeks ago

can you even swim anywhere in new york?

  3. Wow, yeah. Because a horrific terrorist attack that radically reshaped American domestic and foreign policy is way lamer than the snowpocalypse.

(Note to would-be pedants: nothing about this Slog post says anything about *natural* disasters.)

  4. When they have a snow storm, build a snow person. When they has a black/brownout, have a block party. When they have a heat wave, have a block party with ice and cold beer.

When we have a serious earthquake, make sure your not near the Alaskan Way Viaduct/Tunnel. When we have a tsunamis, make sure your no where near the viaduct/tunnel. When we have a Volcanic eruption, make sure you have your camera at the ready.
