A Seattle Public Schools employee has been charged with a felony for selling crack cocaine to a police informant, according to court documents filed yesterday in King County Superior Court. A legal assistant for SPS’s general counsel, Ronnie Bryant sold drugs to the police informant three times, according to a police report. He used the street name “Teacher,” and carried out deals from his apartment on 28th Ave. S. Bryant, 45, will be arraigned on Oct. 6 at the King County Courthouse, according to King County prosecutor’s office spokesman Dan Donohoe.
Seattle Public Schools spokeswoman Teresa Wippel says that Bryant has been employed as a paralegal with the district since October 2000. Wippel says he was placed on paid administrative leave Sept. 16, the day after records say police searched Bryant’s house and found crack cocaine. Bryant was booked into jail Sept 15 and released the next day.
Bryant has a prior felony conviction for forging bank checks and two misdemeanor convictions stemming from driving with a suspended license.
This is not specifically related to the Storm or him being heckled, but I wanted to point this out.
I realize the ladies of The View are mostly ridiculous, but they also have the attention of a lot of mainstream viewers. A LOT.

The women of “The View” got heated Tuesday morning over “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”
Elisabeth Hasselbeck criticized President Obama for the time it took for the issue to come to the Senate floor, saying that it took him 18 months to do something he said he’d do upon coming into office.
Sherri Shepherd and Barbara Walters countered that Obama did not have the power to repeal the ban without consulting Congress and the military.
“He’s not a dictator,” Walters said.
“He’s been trying to do it,” Shepherd added.
“He said it would happen immediately,” Hasselbeck shot back. “18 months, to me, I could’ve had two kids!”
“President Obama cannot do this by himself,” Shepherd said.
“Then don’t promise it,” Hasselbeck replied. “Don’t promise me bullcorn when you can’t do it.”
Walters, who has been filling in as moderator for Whoopi Goldberg this week, finally corralled everyone back.
“I leave this program…[and] I’m so tired!” she said as she cut to a commercial.
My question: why do these very influential people seem to be completely fucking ignorant of the fact that Obama CAN do this by himself?

Teachers’ salaries aren’t competitive. Selling drugs is lucrative. Seems like overlap is inevitable (and apparently entertaining).
Ronnie Bryant is the coordinator of all 504 plans for the district under the Americans with Disabilities Act and as such has contact and very sensitive personal information for the most vulnerable students within the Seattle School District, including students w/ 504s who are coping with/recovering from substance abuse issues. To any parent whose child has a 504 plan this is very disturbing information. It has been clear that 504 plans were not being well implemented or adhered to before this and I know many parents have complained to Mr. Bryant’s supervisors, who seemed to be covering for him. To now know that he is also a crack dealer is very serious, his superiors need to be held accountable for letting this occur and for letting a former felon who obviously still has very questionable judgment oversee the most vulnerable students in the Seattle School District.
