The snow’s blowing sideways (with gusts of wind up to 28 mph), it’s 27 degrees, and people are abandoning their cars all over the city because the roads are stupid icy (and because people in Seattle are stupid about driving in snow). Don’t drive! Have a whiskey!
SNOWPOCALYPSE 2010!

Shouldn’t Slog invent a drink for this? And a cupcake?
Aaand in Chicago today, it was 60 degrees and drizzly. It seems that our cities swapped weather by mistake.
My wife left boeing field at 3:30 and hasn’t made it to i-90 yet… she’s going to run out of gas on the interstate, what should she do besides abandon the car?
No no no. This is not a snowpocalypse. Not yet, anyway. Using that term so soon just diminishes its impact.
@3 hovercraft? Man, I have no idea. Best to her.
WINTER BLAST 2010! I am enjoying the new casters (especially disaster Jim Forman) and their over the top reporting.
🙂 Hilarious
I have a girlfriend who’s been on 1-5 for over 4 hours, not yet passed I-90 – 70s and 66s keep passing me on Eastlake with “To Terminal” signs on. I think I’m gonna end up walking home. 🙁
Snowpocalypse? Really? 3-5 inches is a snowpocalypse? Pansies. I made it through the last two winters on balding tires and soft brakes, you babies. And I walked 10 miles to school in the blinding snow uphill both ways.
“snowpocalypse” is intended ironically, as evidenced by the 2010. took me 90 minutes to get home – mostly because 2wd spinnin-out-bitches are in the way of my SUV.
I have to agree with both @4, this is nothing like the actual Snowpocalypse of 2008 (yet, there’s still hope).
And as someone who grew up in the Colorado Rockies, I sympathize with @8. I was really bummed today to not have cause to put on my snow pants. Sadly, long johns under jeans was plenty.
I hardly ever had to drive in snow when I lived in Seattle, and probably wasn’t very good at it. Don’t be a hater. Now that I live in the Rockies, I’m an expert and my parents make me drive when I’m home during a storm. Still, Seattle snow is crappy and slick, unlike the powder I get up here in the mountains. It’s shit to drive on, especially on hills.
I am enjoying some of the over-the-top weather reporting as well. About 3cm in Everett.
I just walked home from Fremont. I live on 17th on Capitol Hill. The buses I tried weren’t moving at all, and the taxis I called never came. So I took a four mile uphill walk home.
I am not going to work tomorrow.
Easy
Worst winter drivers in the world.
It’s beautiful out there. It is a much needed slow down to some of our harried lifestyles. Thank God the weather slows things down. Enjoy it while it lasts.
@9 Damn hipsters and their ironic bullshit can go to hell.
2008 was a valid snowpocalypse. Unless this shuts down the city for 2 weeks, it doesn’t deserve the title. Not even ironically.
Just drove from Kenmore to the Lake City Fred Meyer and back in my Subaru. It was awesome.
I am sick to death of you people promoting this “whiskey” spelling.
I for one would seriously like some hard apple cider. And a boy to cuddle. But the cider will do in a pinch.
@19: Never mind that, I’m sick to death of not having any whiskey. Cadillac problems, bro.
Snowpocalypse is sooo 2008.
This year, we’re calling it “SN-OMG! 2010”.
Cider sounds nice right about now.
S T F U. People in Seattle are stupid about driving in snow? There is no smart way of driving on ice.
