This evening, in response to a recent rash of assaults on women in South Seattle, community members will be assembling at the Mount Baker Community Club at 5:00 p.m. for a quick march through the neighborhood and then a rally to discuss safety with representatives from the Seattle Police Department. It sounds sort of Take Back the Night-y, with a focus on sending a message of unity and strength to the attackers. There will be free snacks and drinks, plus appearances from Richard “King” Conlin (rumored to be arriving in a sedan chair from the WSDOT motor pool) and Deputy Mayor Darryl Smith. (Mt. Baker Community Club, 5 p.m., free)

Why do black men commit rape and sexual assault at such an extremely disproportionate rate?

If I ever have a daughter – god forbid I ever curse the gene pool with my seed, but if I do – she’s not going anywhere without a gun. I don’t even carry one, but she will.
The cops are too busy beating up innocent people to go after actual criminals.
