  1. Boner’s expression looks quite forced – as if he’s trying to keep the disgust and boredom off his face. Guess he’d rather be out drinking at a fundraiser…

  2. What does the black and white striped ribbon designate? I noticed that Boehner’s was wrongly pinned on his right lapel when he and Biden first appeared. Now it’s been switched to the left – I think Joe repinned him – but it’s very askew. Wonder if he’ll weep during the speech…

  3. Fact Check: Race to the Top/Bottom has no real research behind it, nor did No Child Left Behind. Kids are being used as guinea pigs to test out market-based THEORIES.

  4. I thought it was interesting that the President referred to RTTT as “replacing” NCLB. I wonder if the Republicans knew this was the plan.

But no, RTTT is really no better than NCLB.

  5. Wait, there’s a “Tea Party” response..??? Where’s the Independent, or Green Party response?? Surely those two parties have at least as many congressional members as the tea-baggers.

Also, can I just say: “Red State”… not 25 years ago that meant “Communist”. My, how the times change (the meanings of words).

  6. @8/12/13 – The Live Slogging tool (CoverItLive) should work just fine on an iPad (or iPhone, etc.). It works on mine.

While there aren’t native apps for Slog or Questionland, there are mobile-optimized versions of both:
    Slog: http://slog.thestranger.com/blogs/slog/m…
For the Questionland mobile site, just visit Questionland with your iPhone or Android phone (or other mobile WebKit browser).

The QL site is in the process of being packaged as a native app so you can get it from the store soon, too.

  7. Thanks guys! I missed watching it live, and reading the liveslog was more entertaining than watching the three videos online would have been.

  8. Thanks all for the responses; my comment was made (as usual) in faux-outrage.

I could not get the LiveSlog to scroll (used the auto-scroll button at the bottom). All it did was play an ad, and then showed the comments that happened to be up when I opened the Slog page; no new comments posted and no scroll bar was present to scroll to newer comments.
