Is the assumption that people who drink from hoses end up being binge drinkers at frat parties, or that everybody, at some point, ends up doing a keg stand on a vomit-coated balcony?
Happy kid makes me happy.
twice as adorable?
that’s a cute, cute baby and a cute video. love that!
I think he did surprisingly well!

I guess The Onion doesn’t archive things forever. This article of theirs seems fitting:

Never drink from a garden hose. The hoses tend to retain some water in them that is exposed to air for long periods and thus is a perfect breeding ground for all sorts of nasty bacteria.
Might as well drink from the mud puddle on the side of the road.
oh 8, that hose was running a good while before the kid drank from it.
everything is dirty and could maybe kill you or make you sick. just gotta live your life.
@8, sigh. Another cherished unique flavor from childhood proved unwise. You took away my boogers, you took away my garden hose drinking fountain, what next? Don’t lick the 9-volt battery contacts?
@8: Actually, a super sterile evnironment for kids is bad. Such kids grow up to be annoying adults, allergic to everything, and the first to get a cold. Drinking from a hose is fine.
Once that kid figures out that parabolic arc of that falling water, he will be ready to play ball.
@11, so true… let’s all eat spoiled foods right off the floor and ignore basic hygiene. That’ll toughen up the survivors right quick!
Best thing on Slog all day.
@13- Right, let’s take it to the complete extreme and ignore the reality: Basic hygiene is very different from a sterile environment. An immune system that never works is like a muscle system that never works; useless.
@15 – never lift anything, because you could pull a muscle. Oh, you think that’s silly and overblown? …OK, fine then. In that case, why don’t we all just go around lifting grand pianos with our backs?
Because there’s obviously no middle ground.
Garden hoses are reinforced with lead. You aren’t supposed to drink from them. That’s why they sell RV hoses that are white with a blue stripe. This baby’s stupidity is actually going to preserve his future intelligence.
