@2 Absolutely right. As a straight guy, those pictures reek to me of someone who wants to impress someone with his body. Straight guys are not impressed by male bodies. If he were straight he might have sent a picture of himself bench pressing, or dunking, or bending an iron bar. But just standing there glistening? Totally gay. My first thought if I received those pictures would be that he is hitting on me.
I don’t know why this clip shocks me—closeted bigots exist and I know that—but, jesus! Ted Haggard is unbelievably sad and infuriating. The gall of that man! We will never win if CNN keeps giving these wing nuts a pulpit.

Only delusional people will be fooled. Do you seriously think women don’t know the ways in which men try to impress the targets of their sexual desire? There really isn’t much difference between Bishop Long’s photos and mirror pics in the M4W section of any dating site, except Long was classy enough not to take off his shirt.

I would go to Sanders’ church, just because he seems to have a sane outlook on the bible. Related: Haggard could not possibly have come off as more of a douche. I like how Haggard says that those who called him on the carpet didn’t help him. The reality is, if the people who called him on the carpet didn’t do it he would still be the pastor of New Life preaching anti-gay bullshit and fucking prostitutes. I really question whether he learned anything from his experience other than some relative theology that allows him and others to believe anything they want.
