Yesterday, I posted a link to a donation site, to help a woman named Ashley raise funds to get a tattoo removed. A tattoo that came with a pretty sad story. Today, I’m happy to announce that the donation goal has been met! Thank you to so many people. It does matter. On January 12, 2002, my grandmother Maxine was gunned down by a male acquaintance in an act of cowardice and violence. This heinous act ended a cycle of mental and physical abuse which she went to great lengths to hide from her family. If anyone reading this thinks that they have to suffer for the love and attention of another, get out, seek help, become like Ashley, a survivor. The pain experienced by my family is relived in the news far too often. So here’s to you and your sister Ashley, thanks be to any higher power that you got out.
