I used to like the seats overlooking the park too. Years ago, I watched as this anarchist-looking girl discreetly (ie, she kept her pants on) masturbated while her boyfriend lay snoozing on the grass next to her. Not something you saw every day.
Mostly though you could follow the season of the year by the look of that big Chinese Scholar Tree outside the windows which cooled the light so nicely in the summers.
It was a good place for drinking coffee and I hope another cafe can open next to the park someday.
