@4 this happened in the Province of Quebec, many of whom do not consider themselves even part of Canada, but as their own independent nation. Their judiciary is based on Common Law, not Civil Law.
This crime was tried by the Provincial court, trust me anywhere else in Anglophone Canada or in Federal Court this perv would’ve gone away for waaaaay longer than 5 yrs. Regardless, fellow inmates have their own style of justice for dealing with child molesters, he’ll be luck to survive past his second year.
