Late in the evening last Friday, three men tipped over a man in a wheelchair onto the corner of 22nd Avenue and East James Street, twisted off his backpack, and took everything of value inside—which was only three dollars—according to a police report.
The horrible-yet-technically-alleged event in the Central District began like this: While wheeling himself northbound on 22nd Avenue, three men were walking south. According to police records, one of the men told him to “give me what you got.” When the disabled man told them he didn’t have anything, one of them reportedly “grabbed his backpack which was attached to the front of the wheelchair.” Next the perpetrator allegedly “yanked and twisted and pulled [the victim] and wheelchair over on to the sidewalk.”
The alleged-piece-of-shit robber then started looking through the backpack while his companions watched. After finding the grand total of three dollars in the backpack, he allegedly took all three dollars and walked away.
SFD treated scrapes on the top of the disabled man’s hand, and SPD Detective Dentinger, the author of the report, gave the victim enough change to catch his bus.

“While wheeling himself northbound on 22nd Avenue, three men were walking south.”
Don’t they at least give you unpaid interns an editor?
@1 Thanks, dude!
this is our society, people.
The alleged assailants were clearly Republicans.
comment #4 is stupider than most. everyone knows most blacks are democrats.
Besides the obvious shittiness of this incident, look at what that three dollars wrought:
1. Police response of at least two officers.
2. Fire response to treat the scrapes.
My guess is at least a thousand dollars for that kind of response.
Now if the police actually follow up on this, and it’s doubtful they will, but IF they did there would then be thousands more dollars spent, and then if they apprehend the shitbag and accomplices that would rob a guy in a wheelchair, then we’re looking at tens of thousands of dollars in court costs and then hundreds of thousands if convicted and imprisoned.
All this for three bucks.
At least nobody got killed. this time.
Why all the allegeds? This incident happened, right? Alleged should be reserved for a named suspect who hasn’t yet been found guilty.
Hmmmmmm…….

@6: look at all the GDP these three were able to create out of 3 dollars. The CD just never stops giving.
@9 Yeah, by that measure crime and prisons are great for business!
Except that they’re not. When crimes like this become common, they impact the meager resources of the government into policing and punishment while draining those same dollars away from investing in education and business opportunity.
@5 – obviously #4 was merely looking to raise the ire of loser anonymous trolls like you that pore over blogs in desperate search of confirmation that there are indeed people out there that are just a little more deplorable than your own poor, cowardly self.
@7: This is standard journalistic courtesy afforded to the accused until their trial, and The Stranger complies – except if the accused are Republicans.
@5 – Except Martin Luther King Jr., who was a registered and active Republican.
@11 – How’s that bait tasting?
@12 – what accused? What trial? That was my whole point. He didn’t name anyone. You don’t need to allege that the incident happened if you don’t allege that a specific person committed the incident.
Society? No just a small fucked up part of it. I’m pretty sure folks in Wallingford, Madison Park, Magnolia and Queen Anne don’t go around robbing the differently abled.
@14: Okay, I see your distinction. Force of habit I suppose.
Blacks of course. TNB!
