Recently someone wrote of me on Twitter: “I hope she drops dead.”

Now. What if I really do drop dead? Just die, just drop, just like that? Wouldn’t you feel horrible, anonymous Twitterer?

Wouldn’t you be guilty of…

TWURDER!?

(People: Consider using “Twurder” in your next sentence. Just consider it is all I’m asking.)

Lindy West was born an unremarkable female baby in Seattle, Washington. The former Stranger writer covered movies, movie stars, exclamation points, lady stuff, large frightening fish, and much, much more....

  1. I’ve renamed the @ symbol you place in front of a tweep’s name a “twat”.

“I couldn’t click on @lindywest because you didn’t add her twat”

  2. If something would ordinarily be inane, but because it is either about Twitter or communicated via Twitter it is breathtakingly super-inane, would it be appropriate to call it “twitnane”?

  3. When I see the word “twurder” all I can think of is “turder”

so maybe someone who turds and tweets about it? I guess what it really boils down to is what does Lindy care more about: murder or poop?

  4. “ie. Portland Police are investigating a twurder alleged to have occurred last Wednesday night at the corner of SW Oak and 1st street, just blocks from Skidmore Fountain.

As of this report, Police Bureau investigators say they have few solid leads; but have admitted they are ‘following’ a couple possible twuspects they believe to be connected with the twurder. Police have also acknowledged multiple retweets of the twurder, raising fears of a potential twopycat.”

    Oh god. I hate Twitter.
