…had a parrot-like beaked mouth, triangular face, and a bony shield that protruded from the back of its head—all characteristics unique to ceratopsids.
…but no horns like its best-known relative, Triceratops.
I’m especially excited because one of the paleontologists who helped identify Koreaceratops, Michael Ryan, is from the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, where my love-affair with dinosaurs began over 30 years ago. I can’t even begin to count the hours I have spent there.
All future dinosaurs should be named after the location they were discovered. Could you imagine being the world’s foremost authority on the InTheDirtSomehwereOutsideLAatops?
By the looks of that beast and the time it lived, it’s an intermediate between psittacosaurs and the more familiar, larger ceratopsians. Cool story.
@1: I can top that. There’s a hypsilophodont genus called Drinker (named after Edward Drinker Cope), and a troodontid genus called Borogovia. I shit you not.
