Apparently north Texas is the new Utah…
In Sherman, Texas, 2 boys uncovered a fossil “goldmine”:
“We all got excited because I knew it was too big to be a cow bone, so we knew it was a dinosaur bone,” Andrew said of himself and his Pottsboro Middle School classmate.
Over in Plano, contractor Gary Byrd finds fossils all over the damn place:
“This specimen is 89 million years old,” he boasted, displaying the rare remains of a pterosaur, an ancient flying reptile that until now, had not been thought to live in Texas.
In other news, if you have $300,000 lying around, you can be a douchebag with a dino-skull:
At four feet in length, the Tyrannosaurus skull is by far the largest ever offered at any auction—if its jaws were propped open, this T-Rex could literally swallow a person whole. The skull is expected to sell for an estimated $250,000 — $300,000.
This plus some dino-dung, a Triceratops skull and other fossils are up for auction at I.M Chait Gallery/Auctioneers in NYC.
And finally, thanks to Slog-tipper Jalene who sends us this priceless gem: Wonder Woman babysitting a dinosaur.

Oh, mercy, I think Gary Byrd is some sort of hobbyist hero. What a great guy, to donate every bit of what he finds.
And how I want to read that Wonder Woman to see what other babies she has to sit…
Excellent post, Mary. This and the velocipastor – you on a roll!
Yeah, except it’s in TEXAS, which means those poor boyz iz goin’ ta’ HELL fer playin’ with teh Dayvil’z dinosore bonz!
And in other dinosaur news, I’ll be working in Paul Sereno’s lab this spring. 8-year-old me would have shat brix had he known.
Also, where are mammoths mentioned? The picture seems a little irrelephant to me.
