It’s Brave Horse Tavern, Tom Douglas’s brand-new upscale beer hall.

The specialty is malt-boiled, hearth-roasted, hand-made Brick Oven Pretzels, $4 plain (it’s dough, people! And they are selling millions of them!! And mine wasn’t even very big!!!) and up to $11 each with elaborate accompaniments:

with cheddar~pimento spread 6.*
sour cream and crispy onion 5.
smoked peanut butter and bacon 6.
brown sugar cured alaskan salmon 11.
penn cove clams. chuckanut vienna lager 10.
little smoked porkies, bbq mustard 9.
theo chocolate, toasted hazelnuts 9.

The house tap beer is $6 a pint.

Should you go? Only you can answer that question, friend, but my dad and I went and here is what happened.

*I got this one—a little plastic cup of creamy dip that cost $2 and was too unremarkable to make it into the column.
