Someone call the waaaaaahmbulance: Big real estate baby Donald Trump has decided his widdwe ego can’t handle a run for president:

I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election. I have spent the past several months unofficially campaigning and recognize that running for public office cannot be done half heartedly. Ultimately, however, business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector.

Read the whole statement here. That’s a shame; he would’ve fucked up the Republican party in a delightfully crazy way. As it is, the race looks mighty lame after this weekend’s Huckabee announcement.

  1. Watch out for Herman Cain, and maybe Allen West. Nothing makes liberals cry in their mussels and microbrews more than black conservatives.

  2. @2 I suppose they might provoke tears of laughter. You are talking about the same Allen West that suggested that illegal immigrants who commit crimes in the US should be hanged, right? The one who said “If ballots don’t work, bullets will” right? Yeah, I thought that was the one. Ass.

  3. @3 – Exactly! Apprentice renewal, plus the lawsuits over licensing his name to other developers last week, forced him to stop pretending he was going to run.

  4. He was never going to run for president. He knew it. I knew it. Every journalist in the country knew it. It was more distraction reporting from a media beholden to profit over relevance and fact. Fuck everybody that spent time filling the national media with speculation on this transparent scam.

  5. Is Trump an Austen fan?
“There are few people in England, I suppose, who have more true enjoyment of music than myself, or a better natural taste. If I had ever learnt, I should have been a great proficient.”

  6. @8 If one were to parody something, wouldn’t they make it a point to be at least somewhat humorous? Any dipshit can echo teabeggar talking points.

  7. Although it was clear from the start that this was just a vanity project, there are a lot of charities that are glad he didn’t officially declare. The guy pumps several million a year to some good causes, and FEC rules might really screw that up.

Practically speaking, there’s just no way he’d be able to stop doing Trump Inc work while being a GOP candidate. He & the brand are one.

  8. @2: “microbrews”

Nothing is more American than microbrews, you ignorant twat. Our founding fathers brewed, and our macrobreweries are mostly owned by foreigners.

Of course, you’re a Wal-Mart owned by foreign interests neocon, so why am I not surprised?

  9. Basil Darling! Welcome back! I’ve been so worried about you. My greatest fear is that one of those piles of newspapers you keep around your apartment is going to crush you.

Now that Spring is finally (sort of) here, I hope you are airing out the place and doing something about the mildew, and all those pizza boxes. Just because you live in a basement, there’s no need to live like a slug.

  10. Romney v Obama. The Wingnuts stay home, or vote for some third-party wingnut. Obama wins. Rs win control of Senate, retain control of House. Four more years of bickering, gridlock, runaway corporate kleptocracy and stagnancy.
