If you happen to be in the mood for deep thoughts about ultimately meaningless things today, you should be advised about these two things:

1. Webphemera says that for a brief time, there was an extra American state named Franklin:

Frankland was the originally proposed name โ€” it translates as โ€˜The Land of the freeโ€™. The newly appointed Governor, John Sevier, however, had other ideas about the name. The same could be true of some of the new laws he introduced, such as denying lawyers the right to hold public office, putting them in the same category as those who broke the Sabbath and other immoralists. This law was later rejected by a plebiscite.

2. This 1960s Wonder Woman TV pilot, (via Topless Robot) made by the people who made the 1960s Batman TV show, is so phenomenally bad that it’s a miracle it was made at all, never mind that it wasn’t picked up for a series:

  1. The Batman producers made an awful Dick Tracy pilot, too. But it was only about a tenth as bad as their Wonder Woman.

  2. Hey, at least they didn’t do too bad of a job with “The Green Hornet”, probably the least campy thing William Dozier (who also narrated all those old “Batman” eps) ever put on the air.

  3. Am I the only one who thought it was a little sexist? “…who thinks she has the beauty of Aphrodite!” *UGH* I miss Linda Carter as WW.
