I can’t make it to a HUMP screening this weekend. No tickets, no desire to stand in line. I would like to purchase a DVD but can find no information about doing so on your website.

Can copies of your short films be purchased?

People make and submit films to HUMP! We make one master copy and one back up copy of the films chosen to be shown during the festival—Seattle’s oldest, largest, and only amateur porn festival!—and return all original copies to the filmmakers. We police screenings to prevent people from using recording devices. (We’ve never had a problem, but just to be on the safe side.) After the last screening we destroy our two copies on stage in front of the final audience. We don’t keep copies of the films, we don’t sell copies of the films. HUMP! allows people to be porn stars for a weekend not for life.

So, no, we can’t sell you a DVD of HUMP! 4. If you don’t make it to a screening of this year’s HUMP!, you miss this year’s HUMP! These people lined up for the 4 PM screening are going to see HUMP!…

And there are three more screenings today—at 6 PM, 8 PM, and 10 PM—and some rush seats may be available. But the only way to see the films in HUMP! 4 is to get your butt down to On the Boards for HUMP! 4!

  1. May not be practical for rights reasons, but what if submitters could choose whether to allow their entry to be preserved? Those entries alone could be compiled and sold as HUMP Lite DVDs. On the other hand there is something appealing about the ephemeral nature of the event.

  3. Most people don’t have a platform to distribute beyond their small group of friends. Remember, these are all amateurs. This way, they could all be on on DVD sold by the Stranger. That said, The Stranger may not want to wade into the legal morass of becoming a porn distributor.

    Cedar, have you heard of this new-fangled invention called the internet? It’s great! People make films and there are a million and one sites that they can post them to. You should check it out sometime!

  6. No, that picture is pretty much all white males. The crowd is mostly straight couples on dates. The picture presents you with a non-representative sample.

  7. I’d love to get a copy of Zombie Tapioca Lovefest 3000 and the one with the couches from last years’s Hump… they were so wonderful, I want to share them with friends who didn’t go with us. Oh well.

  13. Some of the entries are from people who DO want to distribute, though (I bought from Two Big Meanies because they were shown at HUMP! and mentioned here on Slog.) Maybe there could be a section on the site here where people who are selling could let potential purchasers know. An “As Seen at HUMP!” advertising feature.

  14. Two years ago, the day after the festival, the maker of “Getting a Leg Up in Porn” was right here in these fora polling for interest in DVD copies of his film. I bought several for gifts. It worked for him, it works for Two Big Meanies, it will work for anyone who wants it to.

  15. The people who made Lawnboy several Humps back could sell many thousands of copies if they offered it for sale, I have friends that still talk about that movie.
