Used to be you could see the bottom of the pit in the foreground if you peered down from the Pike Street overpass. Now you can’t see it, but you can hear the machines thrashing about down there, making way to eventually meet the deep tunnel bore machine at some point in the future. That’s the back half of the Paramount Theatre in the upper right.
