The Graham Hill Elementary School gardening community is asking for your help after its garden was vandalized twice last month.
The vandalism took place on a Saturday, the day after Graham Hill students celebrated Earth Day with a work party meant to clean up the campus and plant seeds for the new growing season. Cambria Cox, the school’s garden coordinator, discovered the vandalism Sunday, when she came to the school to water the plants, but found them ripped out and thrown around, pots overturned, watering cans kicked around, vents broken, and more,” the Post reports. Even the greenhouse was trashed.
The plants that Cox had salvaged were “dumped out and stomped out” Sunday night. Cox has filed a police report and requested increased security.
Who could have done such a terrible thing? And at an elementary school, no less? Shame on the perpetrators. The Graham Hill community is currently rebuilding the garden, which exists entirely because of the generosity of volunteers and community donations.
If you have flowers, plants, starts, mulch, or sunflower seeds, bring them to the Graham Hill garden. Or write a tax-deductible check to the Graham Hill PTA with “garden program” in the memo. Ahem. As a reformed elementary-school vandal myself, I’m pretty sure this was kids, probably kids from the school, and any halfway-observant person at the school can probably figure out who it was. They’re probably acting out because of some other problem. Face shooting is really a last resort for ten-year-olds.

Sorry man but i can tell you without a doubt that it was high schoolers, however in Seattle it could have been a crazy person. I work in an elementary and it’s always the HS kids rebelling by punishing the elementary kids.

Shoot ’em! …with a camera. Install a hidden little webcam and prepare yourself for the heart crushing realization that you know who’s doing this.
@SPG, The garden manager at the school was trying to get some cams donated. A reasonable step before shooting any possibly perps in the face.
@8 Nice try, but electronic banking allows you to send a check to anyone, no PayPal needed. I haven’t written a check to pay a bill, rent or send birthday money in years. My account doesn’t even charge for the postage.
